Saturday October 22th: The Book Society

Dear Members and Friends,
On this occasion, the soprano Irene Isabel Cafiero will delight us with a selection of famous songs under the title "The Southern Cone and its feelings, between love and misunderstandings". The event will take place on October 22nd.
Irene Isabel Cafiero. Soprano. Born in La Plata. She studied classical harp and singing at the Conservatory of Music Gilardo Gilardi in the city of La Plata. Her singing and repertoire teachers were: Elsa Paladino and Eduviges Picone, among others. She is currently studying with Professor Gabriela Cipriani Zec.
She has been part of several choirs in the city and is currently singing at the Polyphonic Cathedral Choir, Musiké and Vocal de Cámara Platense.
She obtained a scholarship for singing improvement in: Bomarzo, Viterbo and Verona, Italy. She has performed at chamber lyrical concerts. She was invited to sing Sacred Concerts as well as Argentinian Music in Rome (Italy) and at a charity event sponsored by the RAI. She participated in the opening of social events in Encarnacion (Paraguay), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Caracas (Venezuela). She was part of the project Florencio Varela School Orchestra, to perform operas. She presented together with other musicians Songs from the Patagonia, as well as a show for the “Little gestures, great achievements” Foundation of the Argentinian singer Patricia Sosa. She organized concerts dedicated to Virgin Mary and Christmas. Sponsored by the Azzarini Museum, she gave a concert-lecture on the Japanese community and their traditional songs. She participated in a refresher course taught by Jordi Mora at the Teatro Argentino. With Cantacuentos Company she presented "Songs to watch” by Maria Elena Walsh at the City Bell Chamber Theatre, as well as in several cities in the Province of Buenos Aires, Teatro Argentino de La Plata and the III Festival of Maracaibo, Venezuela, where she also performed with the Company “I don´t know why?” Doña Disparate and Bambuco. She collaborates with Music for the Soul at Children's Hospital and Marin Asylum.
She is doing at present a Spanish show called “Iberic Times”.
In 2015 she was coordinator-manager of Tous Ensemble; the choir directed by Emiliano Linares on their tour around Italy, He task included the organization of concerts in Rome and Magliano Sabina.
She has plans to participate in concerts of Argentinian music in La Plata in 2016. She will also participate in Lyric Galas, a project made by a School Orchestra in Abasto, as well as in an invitation by a Lutheran School in Texas to deliver a concert of Argentinian music during the month of the Hispanic World and presentations both in Dallas and in San Antonio.
She graduated as a Professor and Bachelor of Arts in History at the National University of La Plata.
At present she is doing a Master’s Course on History and Memory through a scholarship granted by the National Ministery of Culture.
The place will be the Pagewood Townhomes Clubhouse, located at 7515 Highmont Street, Dallas, TX (MAP).
The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm with dinner and the presentation will begin as soon as we finish dessert. Bring a dish to share. Centro Argentino will serve vine, water, sodas and coffee at no cost.
